David Massey, Producer/Director
David Massey is the visionary behind the project Island Song. He has proven his ability on numerous occasions to successfully bring productions in under budget and on time! As a Producer and Director he has compiled several critically acclaimed credits to his name.
A graduate of Hollywood’s prestigious American Film Institute, David has garnered several impressive awards for his body of work, including an Academy Award Nomination, for his short film, “Last Breeze of Summer”. Other accolades include the Martin Ritt Scholarship, The National Black Programming Consortium “Prized Pieces”, The Heartland Film Festival’s “Crystal Heart” and The Eastman Kodak Second Century Honoree. David has also received recognition by The National Education Association for the “Advancement of Learning through Broadcasting”. He is an inductee at The Black Filmmakers Hall of Fame.
His creative and unique approach is displayed in his production of “Dare to Struggle, Dare to Win”, a feature documentary that he Produced & Co-wrote about the Women’s Movement in Ghana, West Africa. David produced Blair Underwood’s film, “The Second Coming”, and directed the television pilots, “Remember Me” and “They Are Not All Lost”. “Men of Courage”, a docudrama produced and directed by David, received an NAACP Image Award.
